Diameter: 56cm
Height: 23
Weight: about 5kg
Material: nitrided steel

Mood Name: Sabye

Synonym : Ashakiran
Standard tone sequence: E/ ABC# D# EF# G# B
Atmosphere : Bright - Bright - Playful
Tonal center : 1st tone
Mode : Lydian - major
Pitch stock : heptatonic

Semitones : 5-2-2-2-1-2-2-3

Mood Description Sabye / Ashakiran:

ASHAKIRAN- Let yourself be enlightened by the ray of hope (translated from Old Indian). Holistically vibrating, this tuning belongs to the major variations. This scale is characterized by the raised tone at the fourth degree of the scale. Thus the mode is Lydian. Overall, this scale sounds a bit happier than the classic major scale (ionic). The Lydian mode is used extensively in traditional styles of music, such as forrò music in northeastern Brazil. This tuning is highly recommended for music therapy and free intuitive play. But it is also suitable for surrounding yourself with healing sounds.

"Ashakiran" is the nickname for Sabye , which expands the scale with a wider, higher tone field.

The sequence of notes starts from the DING to the first note with a leap of a fourth, which acts like an upbeat. From there it gradually goes up until from the seventh note there is a minor third jump upwards, making the note an octave from the DING. This makes the sound a bit more open, so that it is not grounded in the upper octave range, but vibrates freely. In this tuning, a major triad is created on the first, second and fourth notes, and a minor triad on the first, second and third notes. This mood sends you light, cheer and good energy!

Very well suited for joint, improvised play:

Also good for composing together:

Questions & answers when buying a handpan:

Our handpans are elaborately crafted by hand. Even though our handpans are made with the utmost care and craftsmanship, natural differences in color, slight variations in design and minimal manufacturing marks, such as fine scratches or unevenness on the tone fields and the sound body, may occur.

Visible hammer marks, which are caused by the precise tuning of the instrument by hand, are characteristic features of handmade handpans. They are evidence of authentic craftsmanship and do not represent a quality defect. On the contrary, they emphasize the uniqueness of each instrument.
