At Battiloro, the journey through the musical universe began in 2007. A group of friends, musicians and percussionists discovered the potential of a fascinating new instrument: the handpan. This passion for the instrument was combined with the expertise of experienced craftsmen, and thus Battiloro was born.

The Battiloro Handpan is made in keeping with the origins of this instrument and is entirely handmade. The two phases of careful design and sound research ensure 100% Made in Italy craftsmanship. Battiloro's team is made up of highly qualified artisans who dedicate the necessary time to each individual instrument, shaping it, tuning it by ear and finishing it until it becomes an incomparable, unique piece.

Each instrument has its own unique character, like a tailor-made garment, and reflects the personality of the musician who chooses it. We therefore recommend trying the instruments in person. We welcome you and will be happy to help you choose the instrument that best suits your tastes and needs.

In contrast to the hectic times that surround us, Battiloro presents the Moon Handpan product line. This line invites you to discover yourself through the slow practice of self-discovery. The instruments, made of stainless steel in various finishes and colors, from bronze to silver and copper, offer a deep sustain and a brilliant, crystal-clear sound. The scales range from high to very low frequencies, creating an exclusive experience that expresses the infinite range of your own inner desires. With Battiloro Handpan you will discover a world of sound possibilities that will take your musical journey to a new level.

These instruments are tuned to the 432 Hz frequency, which comes from Hindu and Buddhist traditions. In comparison to the Western world, 432 Hz tuning is the standard there instead of 440 Hz.
It is believed that it stimulates our chakras, the life energy centers, in a special way and thus promotes spiritual awakening. Healing Frequency Handpans are among the instruments with a particularly long resonance, which we recommend for meditative experiences and sound journeys. The Healing Frequency series also has its own character. These instruments are characterized by their special metallic design and a fine tone color.
Handcrafted in Italy, the Healing Frequency impresses with its striking appearance. The tones sound extremely clean and with a finesse that is also reflected in the haptic feeling when touching the surface. All in all, an all-round classy handpan.

About the Demyan Handpan:

The name Demyan has many spiritual meanings and derives from an ancient Greek root meaning "the one who tames". Through the Latin variant, the name spread in the Christian East through the work of Saint Damian, the healing saint who worked without asking for anything in return. The same generous musical generosity shines through in the expressive possibilities of Demyan, which has nine notes in the upper part of the instrument and five in the lower part. The scale in G sharp minor gives it an amazing melodic flexibility where every slightest change in sound can be a gift and grace.

Mood description:

Origin and music theory of the Handpan tuning Kurd:

Kurd takes the name of the Arabic/Turkish maqam Kurd . This selection of tones also shares the arrangement of the tones with this maqam if one assumes that the tonal center is on the first tone in the circle. This creates the complete Phrygian mode, which is characterized by a semitone step (semitone) from the root note to the second note of the scale and is responsible for the mysterious sound of the scale .

However, an ambivalence remains, as the DING is a fifth below the first note and thus acts like a second tonal center, which causes the mode to change to Aeolian (natural minor). Depending on the playing style, you can switch between natural minor and Phrygian sound character . With Kurd, you can play everything from calm and meditative to melancholic to powerful and cheerful, with a wide variety of styles.

Kurd shares with other minor variations (cf. Celtic Minor/ Integral) the jump of a fifth from the DING to the first tone. From this fifth level, assuming that the tonal center is the DING, one has all the tonal steps of a natural minor scale (Aeolian). A special feature of Kurd is the semitone step (semitone) between the first and second tone. This step is also present in the Maqam Kurd of the same name (Arabic or Turkish scale system) (cf. Semai Kurd), but also in the Phrygian mode . The Phrygian mode is used in jazz, psychedelic rock, flamenco and fado, but also in classical music .
